B-1 and B-2 Visas for Light Business and Pleasure
B1 and B2 visas are exclusively for short stays. B1 visas are for business purposes in order to attend meetings and conferences, explore new business opportunities, negotiate and close business deals. B2 Visas are mostly for touristic purposes.
E-1 Treaty Trader and E-2 Treaty Investor Visas
If your company has made significant investments in the U.S. or consistently engages in international trade with your country of origin, you and your employees may qualify for an E1 or E2 visa. Proof of such investments or trade must be provided, along with additional requirements.
L-1 Visas for Intra-Company Transferees
This non-immigrant visa allows businesses, startups and more to transfer a foreign worker, usually in their specialized knowledge area or their executive or managerial positions, to the U.S. The beneficiary continues working with the branch, affiliate or subsidiary of the same business.
H-1B Visas for Specialty Occupations
H-1B is a temporary visa allowing a U.S. employer to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. The beneficiary of this US Visa in order to qualify must possess either a specialized knowledge, a bachelor’s degree or a longstanding work experience meeting certain requirements. The number of H1B visas issued each year is subject to quota.
J-1 Visas for Internships and Training
J-1 visa is meant for exchange programs for students, scholars, research professors and more, who are joining in a particular program. The nature of the program can be cultural, educational or even based on business training.
O-1 Visas for Individuals with Extraordinary Abilities or Achievements
This is a non-resident visa available only for individuals who show exceptional skills in their field, whether it is in relation to sciences, arts, business, sports or education. It is usually valid for up to 3 years and subject to renewal.
Green Cards
Green Cards grant the status of permanent resident in the US and can be obtained, among others, through family, employment or investment. A special type of Green Card (EB1-1) may be granted to individuals with extraordinary abilities in their field or profession (sciences, arts, education, business or athletics) or to outstanding professors, researchers, multinational managers or executives who meet certain requirements.
